The Saba Ravishankar Memorial Award for
Community Leadership - 2011
The Saba Ravishankar Memorial Award recognizes an outstanding individual every
year from the National Capital Region whose contribution has been well
appreciated by the National Capital Region Tamil Canadian Community. The
contributions may be in education, culture, community services, business or any
other recognised field over a long period of time.
Eligibility
Anyone who lives in the National Capital Region is eligible to be nominated for
the award.
Nomination Process
Nominations must be submitted before the end of Friday, March 9th, 2012.
The selection committee will review the nominations and may make a selection
based on the information in the nomination forms, interviews with the
nominators, nominees, and others as necessary.
Selection Committee
In order to ensure the independence and integrity of the selection process,
NCRTA will choose the selection committee at the beginning of the application
process. All the applications will then be sent to the committee. The selection
committee will consist of five members from the community covering, all age
group, experience and gender. The selection committee will make its decision and
inform the NCRTA board of its decision. It should be noted that the involvement
of the NCRTA is limited to choosing the selection committee and encouraging the
community to nominate the outstanding individuals for this award. The selection
committee is fully responsible for selecting the winner of the award.
About Saba Ravishankar Award
This award is named after NCRTA's first president Saba
Ravishankar who passed away in 2011. He was a great role model for the young and
old in our community. He was a leader in the community who loved the community,
enjoyed community service and sports, and excelled in education.
