National Capital Region Tamil Association (NCRTA) proudly celebrated its 10th Anniversary with a Grand Gala Dinner Dance on Saturday 21st March, 2015. The celebratory event turned out to be a grand success with fine entertainment and delicious food. The evening started off with a tribute to Tamil victims of violence in SriLanka with of "Moment of Silence" which was then followed by the Canadian National Anthem and the Thamizh Thaai Vazhthu. The evening events unfolded with a welcoming act in which many young children participated with great enthusiasm. The celebrations continued with congratulatory messages, volunteer appreciations, Winter sports awards, interactive fun activities and enthralling songs. The formal entertainment culminated with an energetic dance by the Ottawa Crusaders which lifted up the spirit of the event to the next level and got everyone into the mood for some "Moving & Shaking" on the dance floor. The music played by the DJ kept a large number of people on the dance floor continuously till the official end of event at 1.00 am.

It was great to see everyone turning up on time, thanks to the very generous early bird prizes, which ensured NCRTA could continue the tradition of starting events on time. There were many highlights of the evening of which the standout one for many was the delicious food served by Ceylonta. especially the Kerala style fish curry, Eggplant Moju and the salad with pineapple dressing were very much appreciated and complimented by many. A very big "thank you" to all those who attended the event, enjoyed the excellent entertainment and the great tasty food, and celebrated NCRTA's milestone achievement.

This year The Saba Ravishankar Memorial Award for Community Leadership was awarded to not one but two well deserving people who have served the community for many years; One was to Mrs. Mythili Kalyanasundaram in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the Local and Broader Tamil Community in Education, Religious, and Humanitarian Fronts and the other to Mr. Sivasothy Sivagnanam in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the Local and Broader Tamil Community in Arts & Music, Religious, and Language Fronts. Our heartiest congratulations to both, Mythili and Sivasothy and we wish them both and their families the very best.

A special award for the "Most Valuable Volunteer" was presented to Mr. Sabaratnam Sivaananthan for his dedicated volunteer service to NCRTA over the past ten years.

An event of this magnitude requires the dedication and hard work of many volunteers. On behalf of the NCRTA board, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the volunteers who worked hard in the background to pull together all the pieces of the event, the volunteers who pitched in to help at the venue to run the event smoothly and many more volunteers who helped in preparing the programs and the participants who participated in the programs to make the event entertaining.
