We would like to thank all of you who attended the May 2009 Remembrance Prayer event on May 17, 2012, organized by the National Capital Region Tamil Association and the Ottawa Tamil Seniors Association. We had a great turn out and it was very touching to see the community's emotional connection with the event.
We were pleased by the presence of the first ever Tamil MP to the Canadian parliament, Ms. Rathika Sitsabaiesan, participating in the event and speaking to the attendees.
We would also like to inform that the declaration of the week of remembrance from May 11 to May 18 to mark the tragic events that took place in Sri Lanka in 2009 has been ended as of yesterday, May 18. We extend our sincere thanks for all of you who observed the remembrance week.
